the runners were to make their way across the rugby pitches, but I kept my shoes dry and went along the road to the crossroads . . where the truck with the chip timing devices was ready and waiting . .

together with more marshals, and the timekeepers . .

and with 3 minutes to go the gladiators were led out to the start . . the traffic was halted . . timing mats laid out . .

the runners were held for a brief moment and then the race was underway . .

and the runners set off on the 2k loop of Chesterton . .

whilst everyone got busy at the crossroads . . needing to take the timing kit back to the finish . . and point the runners off towards the airfield . .

and here they come . .
